COVID-19 Information for Patients
Pregnancy can be an exciting but difficult time, particularly if there are concerning health issues in your family. If possible, those individuals who have a family history of a genetic condition and are interested in planning a family should be referred to Medical Genetics for an assessment prior to initiating a pregnancy. If this is not possible, it is important to be offered a referral early on in the pregnancy so that appropriate care can be provided.
Pregnant women may also be referred for genetic assessment and counselling based on an ultrasound or prenatal genetic screening result (such as NIPT).

Geneticist (specialist physician)
Your appointment may also be part of a joint clinic with Medical Genetics and Maternal Fetal Medicine (please see the link below for more information):
