We have received over 4,500 referrals since the program opened, and demand has far exceeded capacity.  We continue to look for ways to engage patients on the waitlist and address our wait times, while ensuring we are able to provide holistic and comprehensive care to those patients in the program.  Based on current estimates, our waitlist is approximately 28 months long.

Yes- we are always accepting new referrals.  BC Women's Hospital and our partners are fully committed to the Complex Chronic Disease Program and to the patients who need care and support.

Due to high referral volumes and need for this program, our current waitlist is lengthy.  The referring provider will receive confirmation from our program once you have been added to the waitlist.  We will be in touch with you when you are next on the waitlist.

We are continuously reviewing and updating the testing and treatment models we utilize based on the best available evidence.  This includes developing treatment protocols for Fibromyalgia, Myalgia Encephalomyelitis, and symptoms attributed to Chronic Lyme Disease.  These protocols are being reviewed by our clinical team and by our Clinical Advisory Committee.

Patients with acute Lyme Disease will continue to be treated in the community as per recommended protocols.  Further information on diagnosis and treatment can be found on the BC CDC website. 

Patients with persistent symptoms after a diagnosis of Chronic Lyme Disease  by reference labs  (such as BCCDC) who are seen at the CCDP will have an consultation with an infectious Disease Specialist to explore treatment options.

The current, best available evidence does not support the use of antibiotics for patients with symptoms attributed to Chronic Lyme Disease.  We will continue to support these patients with the range of treatment options and modalities offered through the program.

Your family physician will receive a letter from the physician you saw in the program outlining the visit, your diagnosis, and your treatment plan. We will work with your family physician throughout the time you are seen in the program as they will remain your primary care provider. They will continue to receive ongoing updates on your progress and a transition summary when you complete the program.  Your primary care provider can access the various team members for support and consultation via telehealth throughout and after your time in the program.

All adults over the age of 19 years who meet the referral criteria are eligible for the program.‎
